Neighbourhood Plan

A Neighbourhood Plan will be produced for Seaford, probably during 2013-14.  This will create opportunities for residents to raise their concerns, ideas and proposals for the future management of the area.

In January 2012, Rodney had a preliminary discussion of the possibilities with a Seaford Town Councillor for Central Ward (the western side of the Conservation Area falls within Central Ward);

Dear Rodney

     Thank you for the meeting yesterday at which, among other things, we dicussed the opportunity that the producation of a Neighbourhood Plan for Seaford may provide to focus on the aim, purpose and outcome of the East Blatchington Conservation Area.

     A Neighbourhood Plan is a component of the recently enacted Localism Bill, but I do not yet know when Seaford Town Council will begin work on this (it costs money and there is nothing in the 2012-13 Budget) but it may be timely to encourage the Residents Association to discuss how best to contribute when we do.

     The Neighbourhood Plan concentrates primarily on communities coming together to say where they think development (if any) should go and what it should look like.  However, it seems to me that this may also be a good reason to revisit the original Conservation Area document produced in 1976 and reviewed in 2005, perhaps to reinvigorate it and think about how it should 'slot into' any Seaford-wide Plan.

     I do not have a great deal more detail at present but I would be very pleased to help in any way I can.  I will also forward this e-mail to fellow councillors in North and Central Wards.

     With best wishes
     Stephen
